    TEDDY: 6 MONTHS

OMG. Our littlest is already half way to 1! Please, please, please slow down!

So much progress for one little bear (yes, the nickname Teddy Bear is still going strong!) this month! Teddy sits unassisted really well and rolls like a pro. He’s also started to get up on all fours and rock back and forth. At this pace I’m convinced he’ll be crawling by Labor Day. Despite not being able to properly crawl, he’s figured out how to get from point A to point B through a series of ninja-like sitting, rolling and flopping around. I watch him eye up Andrew’s toys and within a minute he’s grabbed them and proceeded to slobber all over them (much to Andrew’s irritation!). Teddy is still sucking his thumb here and there, babbling a ton, and blowing bubbles all day! He’s still insanely content and will grace us with the biggest smiles and giggles often.

Teddy’s made a lot of progress in the food department too! He’s officially transitioned to formula (Yay! More freedom for mommy!) during the day but still nurses in the morning and evening. He’s getting better at swallowing and has sampled the culinary delights of carrots, squash, bananas, apples, pears, green beans and peas. Right now apples are his favorite along with Mum Mums (teething crackers). Still no chompers- though I’m convinced those are coming soon too- so he’s found a way to ‘gum’ his food.

Teddy has also turned the corner on sleep! He goes down around 7-7:30pm with almost no, if any, fuss. He rarely cries anymore in the night and wakes around 5:30-6:30am to eat. His naps are also becoming more consistent and he’s taking them in the crib with little resistance. It’s PHENOMENAL. I seriously feel like super mom when both my kids are fed, bathed and sound asleep by 7:30pm!

What’s he into? His brother! Teddy loves Andrew and all the silly faces, peek-a-boo and ‘rough housing’ Andrew brings. Teddy is also still a sucker for a crinkle book and the stackable rings. He puts EVERYTHING in his mouth and seems to love sucking on ice cubes. Teething rings are also a big favorite. He snuggles under blankets when he rides in the car with only his eyes popping out and loves- if not demands- cuddles and hugs from his mama and dad. Twist my arm…

And how big is this bundle of love and joy?! You can see from recent photos that weight gain is NOT a problem. He’s definitely a likely chunky monkey at this stage with rolls for days. Teddy officially weighs 17 lbs 6 oz and despite all his cute rolls, he’s only in the 50% for weight. He is now 27 1/2 inches long and in the 76% for height. Teddy is still slightly heavier and shorter than Andrew at this age. He also sports 9-12 months clothes.

Happy 6 months Teddy Henry (as Andrew calls him)! Our world is much brighter because you’re in it!

    Getting ready to crawl!

  • Here comes trouble…

    Here comes trouble…

For those of you gasping that I let my 6 month old baby with questionable balance ride in the jeep, don’t worry. The pic is just for show. Andrew is actually a pretty bad driver as evidenced by this video. It will be a long time before I let Teddy ride with him. Let’s just hope he improves before he gets behind a real car!

With a ‘wiper towel’ of course!

  • Underrated: A Weekend at Home!

    Underrated: A Weekend at Home!

For the first time since early June we had a weekend at home, without guests and that everyone was healthy…or at least not in the hospital! It was awesome to just be able to enjoy our house and friends leisurely for the whole weekend; a seriously underrated experience!

On Friday Andrew and I went to the library after school to get some new books to read. We filled up his library bag, said hi to the fish and headed home for some reading. I LOVE that he loves books!

On Saturday morning we headed to the Turtle Back Zoo. Andrew said his favorites were riding the train (of course not see the animals we paid to visit…), seeing the giraffes and the ‘cave’ aka climbing through the prairie dog exhibit (again, not seeing the prairie dogs, just climbing through a hole). Teddy of course was happy as a clam to be pushed around through the whole thing.

On Sunday afternoon we went Jockey Hollow, my favorite park, to go hiking and ‘explore.’ I wanted to capitalize on Andrew’s excitement from last week’s walk and this trip didn’t disappoint. We walked the mile long (Andrew did it all himself!) Primrose trail that criss-crossed a little creek several times. Andrew LOVED walking on the trails by himself, crossing the bridges and putting his hands in the water. And when he got tired he’d say ‘I need a break’ and sit down on a rock for a few minutes. And again, Teddy was happy as a clam being carried through the whole experience!

PS- We had two(!) presidential moments this weekend. Trump spends his summer weekends at his golf course in Bedminster, NJ. This is LITERALLY the next town over and all of 2 minutes from the boys’ pediatrician. So on Saturday we saw Air Force 1 parked at the local airport on the way to the zoo. And on Sunday evening we saw 3 marine helicopters, aka Marine 1, fly overhead as the president flew back to his plane. The choppers LITERALLY flew over our property, no exaggeration. If Trump looked out the window there is no doubt he’d see our family playing in the yard. I’ll keep my personal politics off the blog but it’s still crazy to see the President of the United States fly right over your house!

  • Great Explorers

    Great Explorers

After school we went ‘exploring in the uncharted wilderness of Morristown, NJ’. ? We deviated from our typical walks where mommy pushes 50 pounds of people around the hilly park to a true Mommy-Andrew adventure! Andrew loved crossing the bridges, climbing down the ‘slipper-bee’ creek banks to touch the water, choosing which trail to walk on and then running up the hills back to our car. A few moments that especially brought a smile to my face:

    1. Andrew touching the creek and saying, ‘It’s so cool! Let’s pee in it!’…and he did.
    2. As Andrew ran up a steep hill (It really is steep and long), he passed an older couple struggling to make their way up. He yelled ‘You can do it!’ and sped by. ?
    3. As we walked together Andrew asked many times, ‘Can I hold your hand mommy?!’…. If you go visit Jockey Hollow you can find where my heart melted right there on the spot!❤️❤️

A rocky start but nothing some goldfish and apple sauce couldn’t take care of!
