    Indian summer

The temperatures have been well above average for mid October the last few weeks which had given us a great opportunity to be outside in the afternoons. Andrew is currently obsessed with ‘digging’. He literally wants to just pick up piles of dirt and move it 6 inches with his excavator. He told me today he’s like a squirrel burying his acorns. ? So simple, so sweet, so boy. And this guy- always smiling! Except when you tell him he can’t eat dirt and leaves.

  • The Patch

    The Patch

We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch on Saturday. We decided to try Snyder’s Farm which ended up be a great choice for the boys; no lines, a hayride and lots of activities perfect for budding 3 year olds. Andrew and Austin went on the giant hay barrel slide, climbed the hay barrel ‘mountain’, navigated the maze, climbed on a tractor, bounced in a pumpkin bounce house and ate donuts- all before the actual pumpkin picking!

Andrew had a ball up until the actual patch. He STRONGLY preferred riding the tractor over picking a pumpkin; subtext he had a total melt down in the middle of the pumpkin patch. Needless to say despite reading lots of pumpkin books readying him for this moment, we grabbed the closest pumpkin, paid and headed over to the tractor. Trying to wrangle 4 kids under 3 for a picture- always MEMORABLE and IMPOSSIBLE! Happy fall y’all! ?

  • Compliments from My Son

    Compliments from My Son

On Wednesday Andrew and I were watching the news together in the morning as I sipped my morning coffee. Melania Trump appeared on the screen and he looked at me and said excitedly, ‘Mommy! She looks like you!.’ Politics aside, Melania can certainly put herself together. On any day she’s a far cry from the old PJ pants, stretched out maternity tee-shirt and frizzy hair I was sporting at that moment. I stood a little taller that day thinking maybe my son really thinks his mama is pretty. I mean Melania and I did look the same according to him….

The next day Andrew and I were reading books together after dinner. We flipped the page and I heard it again ‘Mommy! She looks like you!’. Wait…. WTF?! According to Andrew I’m a cross between Melania Trump and a cubby, green faced witch with warts.

  • Swimming Lessons

    Swimming Lessons

Despite a total scheduling mishap on Mommy’s part, Andrew and Andy are back in the pool with weekly swimming lessons! Andrew really is starting to progress in the water. He now acknowledges that the water even exists (before he’d pretend he was Jesus and could walk on it…), jumps in, goes under, blows bubbles, float on his back and can swim around by himself- with a bubble of course! It’s also great that they have this special time together (translation: ‘Mommy doesn’t have to get wet’). Just another series of lessons and he’ll be done with the Parent/child classes. No worries…. next comes Teddy! Andy won’t be able to escape that pool for at least another 2.5 years!

Yes, I’m that creeper sitting in the balcony all alone taking pictures of kids. Anything for the blog!

    Bath Time Bros

Bath time with these two is starting to require a rain poncho! But they really do love each other and both find it hysterical to make the other laugh, splash feverishly and get mommy wet! #Doubletrouble

  • TEDDY: 7 MONTHS

    TEDDY: 7 MONTHS

7 months is all about movement and motion for the Teddy! He’s transitioning from his belly to all fours to sitting unassisted. He’s even started to crawl….ish! He sways back and forth and then propels himself forward and then repeats. It’s not graceful but it definitely gets him from point A to B to C to D and so on. He’s even started to ‘walk’ in his scooter. I’ll be cooking in the kitchen and all of a sudden he’s banging me in the back of the knees with a big grin on his face. It’s a brave new world now that he doesn’t stay in one place. Baby proofing here we come!

Teddy has officially finished nursing (a bittersweet moment for mama) and has 5 formula bottles a day along with 2 meals. I was concerned at his 6 month appointment about his limited ability to swallow and eat food. Well, that’s over! He eats like a champ and loves just about anything you put in front of him; even my spinach pea combos! Bananas, apples, carrots and squash seem to be favorites but he ADORES his Puffs! His ninja-speed reflexes come out when you dump some Puffs on his tray. His eye-hand coordination isn’t great but his motivation is clearly strong! Still no teeth but lots of babbling, smiling and laughing. He’s started to belly laugh when something is really funny (usually Andrew) and it’s fantastic to hear.

Teddy continues to be a champion sleeper; down around 7-7:30pm with almost no, if any, fuss and wakes around 6-7 am to eat. Some mornings we have to wake him up to get ready for school at 7:30. While he looks more like me, the sleeping thing is definitely Andy! And when he’s not sleeping you can find him contently playing with his toys, giggling at his brother or making a break for any cars Andrew may have left on the floor. He still loves a good crinkle book and enjoys sucking on ice cubes…or anything for that matter. We are still very much in the ‘everything in my mouth phase.’ He’s seriously a very happy baby. How did we get so lucky!?!

Happy 7 months Teddy! Keep on smiling!
