    TEDDY: 3 MONTHS!

Teddy’s 3rd month is summarized for me in two ways: lots of smiles and little sleep! Yay and ugh!

Teddy wakes up each morning super happy and full of smiles, cooing and giggles! He smiles when Andrew laughs and loves to have his belly and arms tickled. He’s really cute (I’m biased but still…) and literally a lovable teddy bear. He’s also started to giggle which sometimes sounds like a giant gasp of air because he’s using his whole body to express his excitement. Andrew finds Teddy funny and I can already see a budding friendship forming. This is the amazing and awesome part!

But his sleep has gone to total s*%t recently. At 12 weeks Teddy went through a ‘mental leap’ which is really a mental growth spurt. Totally normal and a great sign of his development. For some kids this means they’re awake often at night because of all the new skills they’re learning. Teddy was no exception and was waking up at 10pm, 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am for almost a week. Ugh. Once he emerged from this growth spurt we were blessed with a few (!) sleepFULL nights before Teddy descended into the 4 month sleep regression. Yay! He’s early. So yet again he’s waking multiple times a night (every 90 minutes one evening) as he learns how to put himself to sleep on his own. We’re making some adjustments to our night time routine and seeing some slow progress with his sleeping but it’s been rough. Let’s hope he learns quickly so mommy can get some rest; especially now that I’m back to work.

With this bout of sleepless nights I’ve now truly understood 3 things; (1) the evolutionary reason babies are cute. We won’t kill them when they drive us insane, (2) Sleep deprivation is an effective form of torture and can lead to insanity and (3) bags under your eyes. There’s more like a 5-piece luggage set under my eyes at this point. I’m buying a Costco-size under eye concealer these days and sucking down the coffee like Starbucks is going out of business. But he’s adorable and lovable and we’ll keep him.

    His 3 month stats:

    • Teddy solidly wears 6 month cloths
    • He still loves to eat and is really chunking up! His next weigh-in is at 4 months.
    • He’s mastered taking the bottle just in time to start school. Whew!
    • He rolls from his tummy to his back!
    • He DESPISES sitting in his carseat unless the seat and/or car is moving
    • He LOVES the sound of the ocean to sleep (Note: If you walk in my house after 7pm these days, it sounds like an aquarium)
    • He’s ticklish and loves his brother. LOVE.

Despite our sleeping challenge, he’s a pretty phenomenal little dude and I hardly remember our little family without this bundle of cuteness! Cheers to you Teddy Bear! We love you!

Teddy doing his impression of mommy when he doesn’t sleep:

  • He rolls!

Milestone caught on film….and big brother trying to get a little of the attention too!

  • It went too quickly!

    It went too quickly!

Back to work for this mama this past Monday! Hard to believe that 3 months has already gone by. One minute we were coming home from the hospital and next minute he’s off to school!

Without question, I’m so happy I took the time I could to take a break from work and spend time with my boys. They just change and grow way too quickly! While I’m excited to back in the adult world during the day, I’m also envious of mommies who get to stay home with their kiddos every day. I’ll definitely miss my mid-morning snuggles with Teddy Bear!

Mommy was sad but clearly Teddy was excited to start a new chapter; school! He joined Andrew at The Palmer School and the two get to interact throughout the day which makes me very happy! Note: I only cried a little in the parking lot when I dropped him off. #youcantfightbiology

    Mr. & Mrs. Evans

We ventured to Baltimore to celebrate the wedding of Maureen and Ryan. It was a full family affair because not only were all the Phillips there but Papa and Coco came to babysit! While mommy and daddy danced the night away…… Andrew enjoyed room service. Tough life!

  • Zoo!

    Zoo!

I soaked up the last week of maternity leave with a trip to the zoo…and Coco came too! Not surprisingly Andrew was most excited about seeing his buddy Austin and riding the train! The animals were less exciting for him though he LOVED feeding the goats! No fear! Riding the merry go round:

Meanwhile Teddy didn’t know what to make of all the strange sounds and sights:
