Kristi’s and my arms have gotten stronger over the past 2 months, but nothing compares to how important the swing has been in giving both parents a quick breather.
Andy and I had our first night out in the city since Andrew was born. It was awesome to reconnect with friends and take a brief sabbatical from being mommy and daddy. Meanwhile Andrew had a sleepover with grandma and grandpa. Fun was had by all parties involved- in fact mommy and daddy may have had too much fun….Thanks for the night away grandma and grandpa!
We christened Andrew’s sled this weekend. He wasn’t sure what to make of everything (including his snowsuit) but I’m confident he’ll come to love it. We’re due for more snow tonight so I’m sure we’ll get to try again very soon!
Andrew has a ‘tranquil turtle’ that casts peaceful lights on the wall and plays the sound of waves crashing on the beach. It’s like being at a spa….but with a baby. This turtle doesn’t poop, doesn’t need to be fed AND puts our child to sleep. BEST. PET. EVER.
Andrew is recovering from his 2 month check-up this morning. Poor guy got 3 shots. On the upside we learned that he is 13lbs (75th percentile) and 25.5 inches long. His height is off the charts for kids his age. His father grinned ear to ear hearing that his son was tall and said, ‘he may look like a Kleinfelter up close but he looks like a Phillips from far away.’
Sitting on the couch and watching football with Daddy and friends. Note: he’s sporting his Eagles jersey despite their loss earlier in the season. #eaglesfanforlife
Andrew celebrated his 2 month baby birthday! They say time flies as a parent and I’ve come to respect this as completely and wholeheartedly true. It’s hard to believe this little guy is another month older! Soon he’ll be sleeping through the night, out of diapers, mowing the lawn and off to college (We clearly have a plan for him).
So here are some highlights from our last month- Andrew no longer sleeps in his ‘dog bed’ but has graduated to his own room and crib. He takes baths in the bathtub (not the sink) and sleeps for 3-4.5 hour stretches at a time at night. He wears 3-6 month size clothes, smiles a lot and has rolled over 5 times. He coos and has started making lots more sounds. His favorite hobbies are playing on his jungle mat, black and white books, listening to fart noises you make from your mouth and staring at himself in the mirror on his swing. Like his parents, he thinks he’s really cute and funny.
And how big is he? We don’t know quite yet. He goes to the doctor on Monday for his check-up. Needless to say he’s grown a ton and his cheeks are filling in. Andy and I are taking bets that he’s 13 lbs and 25 inches long which would mean he’s close to doubling his birth weight. I guess you have to grow fast to eventually reach 6’5”- again high hopes for this little guy.
PS- He’s losing his hair and has an odd ring of baldness on the back of his head. But we still think he’s the cutest little guy out there!
January 17, 2015. 2 months!
And in case you forgot. Here’s what he looked like just 1 month ago:
