Happy 2nd birthday sweet Teddy! How in the world is my littlest guy already two!? It’s not making me want to have another baby BUT it is reminding me to SLOW DOWN and ENJOY all the wonderful, crazy and chaotic moments of small children because they are so very fleeting.
What to say about Teddy at two?! Well, I think he’s a total ham. He loves to play, joke, make silly faces (some of the best!), dance and be a social butterfly. Everyone at school- including the parents- know Teddy! I’m a little famous because I’m Teddy’s Mom! He makes a point to walk into every classroom in the morning and say hi. Future politician perhaps?!
But Teddy’s absolute, most favorite thing in the world, is Andrew! He is totally and completely obsessed with his brother. If Andrew does something, you can expect to see Teddy do (or at least try to do) the same. If Andrew laughs, Teddy laughs. When he wakes up, he asks for Andrew. When Andrew wants to watch Paw Patrol, Teddy wants to magically watch the same thing. Andrew has an Ellie, so of course Teddy needs an Ellie. He so just adores his big bro and I think the feeling is mutual. They really are best buds and I hope that never changes!
Besides his brother, Teddy likes Mickey Mouse, Paw Patrol, and Gecko from PJ Masks. He LOVES all things train (‘choo choo’) and has a budding affinity for cleaning…which I have selfishly cultivated by getting him a vacuum for Christmas and suggesting Aunt Kiki get him a broom and dust pan/brush for his birthday. I dream of a day when he might help me clean! Wishful thinking I know… but he loves them! Teddy also loves to dance and is super into Elmo. He loves talking books, bubbles and going down the slide at the playground…belly first of course!
Teddy attends The Palmer School and is in the Toddler 1 class. His teachers are Miss Ashley, Miss Amanda and Miss Megan. It’s great to see him making friends with the other kiddos.
Much to my dismay- and like his older brother- Teddy is a pretty picky eater. I’d love to share that he’s open to trying new things but his diet unfortunately consists mostly of yogurt, applesauce, bananas, goldfish, peanut butter sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, cereal, toast and pizza. He’s slightly more adventurous than Andrew, but we’re on the margins here folks.
In the last few months, the biggest change in Teddy is his speech! It’s truly exploded in the recent weeks where he’s putting phrases together, repeating what you say and understanding concepts and his surrounding environment more and more. My favorite is when he comes up to you and says ‘hug’ and gives you a hug. Or when you put him to bed, he says ‘bye bye. Yove [love] you.’ Melt my heart.
So how big is he? We’ll find out next week at his two year old appointment. Most pediatricians can predict how tall a child will be by doubling their height at two years old. Andy is waiting with baited breath to see ‘how much Kleinfelter and how much Phillips’ he has in him. However, I can share he wears size 2T clothes and still sleeps on his crib; though will be transitioning to a ‘big boy bed’ VERY shortly. Bye bye nursery!
Teddy is a bundle of energy with his own (strong!) opinions. He dazzles everyone with his goofy smile and gorgeous curls. He makes his mama laugh at least once an hour and has added more happiness to our little family than I could ever imagine.
Happiest of birthdays Henry Theordore- or as we call you- Teddy, Teds, Tedders and Teddy Bear! We love you more than you’ll ever know and hope all your M&M and bubble birthday wishes come true!
