TEDDY: 8 MONTHS!
Smiles and miles for our Teddy Bear!
8 months is all about the SMILES for Teddy or ‘Good Time Ted’ according to Aunt Cathy. Teddy’s lovable, smiley and almost always happy personality continues to emerge with each day. His teachers say that he just sits in the circle at school and giggles at the other babies. He seriously smiles most of the time and it’s awesome. And when he’s not smiling he’s usually laughing at his older brother. Andy and I have watched their relationship and love for each other really blossom in the last month. They truly love being around each other and Teddy lights up in the morning (or any time for that matter) when he sees Andrew. He giggles when Andrew plays with him and belly laughs as they splash each other feverishly in the bath each night. I so hope we are watching the beginnings of a life long close friendship!
As for the MILES part, Teddy is officially on the move! He’s evolved from a worm-like pseudo crawl to full on hand-hand-knee-knee crawl. The other day he crawled clear across the house on his own. He loves to explore and is particularly drawn to my office. He loves to go in there and just stare at my giant cactus. He”s also started to pull himself up onto things and can stand leaning up on toys. He truly is mobile…and it’s exhausting!
At 8 months Teddy also babbles a ton is constantly making noise; the gift of gab is something he comes by honestly. He definitely makes the ‘da da’ and ‘ma ma’ sounds but I’m not conceding first word yet. He also loves to roam through the house in his little scooter, make a b-line for Andrew’s toys when he isn’t looking and LOVES splashing in the bath. As soon as he hears the water turn on he crawls quickly to the tub and pulls himself up as if to say ‘I WANT IN NOW!.’
Teddy also eats just about anything I put in front of him though I think yogurt is his favorite. And still no teeth! Teddy also continues to be a champion sleeper; down around 7-7:30pm with almost no, if any, fuss and wakes around 6-7 am to eat. He’s wearing 9- but really 12- months clothes. Official weigh-in next month when we visit the doctors.

Apples with Miss N.
Last weekend one of my favorite people came to visit. Preethi was the very first person I met at college and we’ve been getting into mischief (of the good kind!) together ever since! In addition to lots of laughs and catching up, we went apple picking at Riamede Farms. Andrew enjoyed picking the apples, pulling the wagon, eating the cider donut but (not surprisingly) was most excited to ride the tractor. Another successful festive fall experience!

Indian summer
The temperatures have been well above average for mid October the last few weeks which had given us a great opportunity to be outside in the afternoons. Andrew is currently obsessed with ‘digging’. He literally wants to just pick up piles of dirt and move it 6 inches with his excavator. He told me today he’s like a squirrel burying his acorns. ? So simple, so sweet, so boy.

And this guy- always smiling! Except when you tell him he can’t eat dirt and leaves.

The Patch
We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch on Saturday. We decided to try Snyder’s Farm which ended up be a great choice for the boys; no lines, a hayride and lots of activities perfect for budding 3 year olds. Andrew and Austin went on the giant hay barrel slide, climbed the hay barrel ‘mountain’, navigated the maze, climbed on a tractor, bounced in a pumpkin bounce house and ate donuts- all before the actual pumpkin picking!

Andrew had a ball up until the actual patch. He STRONGLY preferred riding the tractor over picking a pumpkin; subtext he had a total melt down in the middle of the pumpkin patch. Needless to say despite reading lots of pumpkin books readying him for this moment, we grabbed the closest pumpkin, paid and headed over to the tractor.
Trying to wrangle 4 kids under 3 for a picture- always MEMORABLE and IMPOSSIBLE!
Happy fall y’all! ?
